How to Verify Device backup on iTunes or iCloud

Many people unfortunately do not know how to even check if their device is being backed up let alone where it is backed up.  For most, it will be set to iCloud.  You must ALWAYS back up to iTunes or iCloud which is independent from our app data backup to DropBox, Box or manual backup method.
